Sick and Tired . . . and Bored

Everyone in our house is sick right now, most notably my 3-year-old, Tessa, who has pneumonia. Last week, Bridget was suffering from some sort of 48-hour bug that she picked up at preschool. She ran a high fever a few times and was couging a whole lot. She was pretty miserable for a couple of days, but bounced back after that. Then, Tessa got sick over the weekend. She also had a high fever, but hers kept coming back. She was feeling truly miserable and coughing much worse than Bridget, so I took her to the doctor on Monday. The diagnosis was pneumonia. I'm sure my mouth fell open as I mentally pictured a hospital stay, maybe even through Christmas. The doctor immediately reassured me that it's not as scary as it sounds.

He gave Tessa an antibiotic prescription and advised me that if she wasn't feeling much better within 48 hours I should bring her back in. She began feeling much better by Tuesday evening and hasn't been wheezing or breathing fast at night for the past two nights, so I think she is on the mend.

Meanwhile, she, Bridget and I are housebound. I've picked up some kind of cold/sinus thing and feel miserable. Bridget is still coughing and is sleeping more than usual, so she's not 100%. Dwayne is coughing and has a sore throat, but is still going to work. I am desperately searching for somewhat interesting sedentary activities for us. We are watching way too much T.V. and the girls are drawing and coloring a lot. We are all getting very bored. I am soooo tempted to give them one or two of their Christmas toys early. It's a shame to have fun, new toys hidden away when we are running out of things to keep us occupied. But, I will resist the temptation. I just hope we all feel better in time for Christmas.
